Okanagan Lake is surrounded by five Indian reservations and its name means "place of water" in the native Salish language. A serpent lake monster named Ogopogo is said to have been sighted there. The lake is a popular vacation and recreation spot with the lake reaching temperatures in the upper 70s during the summer.
