Navy Pier on the sparkling Lake Michigan opened as Municipal Pier in 1916, was renamed in 1927 to honor Navy members who served during World War I and renovated in 1995 to what it is today. Popular attractions are Pier Park with a 150-foot Ferris Wheel, Children's Museum, IMAX Theater, Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, Crystal Gardens and a USS Chicago anchor. It is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
