Resting in the Myvatn area, Namaskard is a unique geothermal region of mud springs, thermal vents, and steam springs. A short distance from the Kratfla Volcano system, the orange-brown, rocky landscape is reminiscent of Mars, lined with black rivers and sulfur mud pools. Due to the heat of the volcano and high concentration of sulfur there is little to no vegetation within the area.
