Receiving over 5 million visitors a year, the southern rim is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise over the Grand Canyon East Rim from Mather or Yaki Point. Or one can head over to Desert View Point to see the picturesque Watchtower, a historical recreation of an ancient tower that once stood over the canyon, and another pristine spot to receive a panoramic view of the canyon. There are a handful of hotels in Flagstaff or the nearby small town of Tusayan, but a trip from Las Vegas is manageable.
