Glen Canyon Dam located near Page is named for the prismatic Glen Canyon and was constructed for hydroelectric power and flood control. It is part of the popular vacation spot of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area attracting nearly two million visitors per year. The arch dam is 1,560 feet long and 710 feet tall retaining 27 million acre-feet of water.
