Originally home to Siuslaw Native Americans, Florence is a small city on the Oregon coast. Since 1935 it has been host to Rhody Festival, a cultural festival based around the blooming of the Rhododendron flowers. Florence also rests at the edge of the Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area, a portion of the Siuslaw National Forest devoted an expansive region of sand dunes.
