The 580-acre Animal Kingdom is the second largest theme park in the world and the first to be entirely centered around animal conservation. This park that opened in 1998 is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and houses more than 1,500 animals from a variety of 250 species. It is represented by 145-foot tall Tree of Life and visited by approximately 10 million people per year. Animal Kingdom is divided up into the seven themed areas of Africa, Asia, Avatar: World of Pandora, Discovery Island, DinoLand USA, Oasis and Rafiki's Planet Watch.
