Officially called the James W. Dalton Highway, this 414-mile roadway runs through the state of Alaska from Elliot Highway near Livingood to East Lake Colleen Drive in Deadhorse. Dalton Highway, also known as Alaska Route 11 and North Slope Haul Road, was built in 1974 to transport supplies for the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. The remote highway is featured in several television shows including "Ice Road Truckers" and "America's Toughest Jobs."
