Covadonga’s Holy Cave houses the tomb of Pelayo, who in 722 won the Battle of Covadonga against the Muslim Moors, which started the Reconquista, a struggle of 750 years between the Muslims and Christians in Spain. Covadonga is also known as the gateway to the pristine Picos de Europa mountain range.
