Located in Philadelphia's Center City, this mostly Asian neighborhood started in the 19th Century with many Chinese immigrants migrating to the Pennsylvania city to start businesses. Chinatown, Philadelphia received a wave of Chinese citizens in the 1960s. The Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corp. was created in 1968 after some portions of Chinatown were demolished to make room for new development.
