Established in 1634, this is the United States' oldest city park and is the beginning of Boston's historic Freedom Trail. Boston Common has been the site of many events throughout its years such as public hangings, a Revolutionary War British military camp, Vietnam War protests and speeches by Martin Luther King Jr., Pope John Paul II and feminist leader Gloria Steinem.
