The Georgia state capital is also the most populous city in the state and hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics. Atlanta was established in 1837 as the terminus for the Western & Atlantic Railroad of the State of Georgia. The city was completely destroyed during the American Civil War with the majority of its buildings burned down. Atlanta popular attractions are Centennial Olympic Park, CNN Worldwide, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site, The World of Coca-Cola and The Varsity.
