The borough of Skagway, Alaska is famous for being a tourist destination, especially during the summer. The boroughs population is around 920, but the population doubles during the summer due to tourism. Skagway was once a city, which was incorporated in 1900 and reincorporated as a borough in 2007. Skagway was known for being a prominent place for gold seekers during the Klondike gold rush of the late 19th century.
