Stretching 39 miles (62 km) from the border of New South Wales and Queensland to Gold Coast's Broadbeach suburb, the Nerang River is the largest river system in Queensland, as well as being one of the most important, as it flows in to Hinze Dam and Advancetown Lake, Gold Coast's main water supply. The rivers various canals and islands help preserve the area's marine, terrestrial, and aquatic plants and animals. The river is popular among recreational fisherman and kayakers.
