The once working-class Manhattan neighborhood that was home to many immigrants has changed into a trendy commercial area over the past decade. Manhattan's Lower East Side was recently placed on the America's Most Endangered Places list by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Notable sites include Katz Deli, The Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space, Angel Orensanz Center, Clinton Street and the East River Park. The Lower East Side is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
