Visitors can only reach this Yukon historic trading post by boat or airplane as it is at the confluence of the Yukon and Pelly Rivers. Fort Selkirk was named in 1852 by Robert Campbell of Hudson Bay Co. when he created a trading post there. It has long been a home to Selkirk First Nation peoples, who still manage the Yukon Historic Site of Canada today. Evidence of prehistoric life has been discovered at Fort Selkirk, as well.
