This ancient Egyptian obelisk in Westminster is one of three re-erected in London, Paris and New York. Cleopatra’s Needle London, already over a thousand years old in Cleopatra’s lifetime, was originally made during the reign of the 18th Dynasty Pharaoh Thutmose III. The red-granite obelisk stands 69 feet high and is inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs.
