One of the most easily accessible glaciers of Norway, Briksdal is actually an arm of the larger Jostedalsbreen glacier, the largest glacier in Europe. Due to climate change the glacier is steadily retreating, and its size varies due to temperature and precipitation. Visitors to the glacier are welcome to take boat tours to see it up-close or hike into the Briksdal Valley, however glacier walking is not allowed due to the unstable nature of the glacier and risk of avalanches.
