October 2026 — What happens when travelers from Malawi, Brazil, and the United States set out to discover China together? They find that the most powerful souvenirs are not things you can pack, they are stories.
Tours4fun, a leading North American group tour platform and Trip.com Group brand, has launched “Stories of China,” an innovative multi-city journey designed to help international travelers experience China through personal narratives, cultural immersion, and genuine human connection. The inaugural tour was led by Tingting Guo, Tours4fun’s Global Vice President of Business Development, who conceived the concept as a way to go beyond traditional sightseeing.
“People remember stories long after they forget the names of landmarks,” Guo said. “A powerful story can inspire us, change our perspectives, and connect us across cultures and generations. That’s what I wanted to create.”
Having grown up in China and spent the past 16 years living in the United States, Guo brings a unique perspective to the journey. “I’ve come to appreciate how meaningful it is when people from different cultures have the opportunity to truly understand one another. And through this journey, I also get to rediscover my home country from a different perspective.”

Chapter 4: Shanghai — Where the Future Meets the Past
Our final chapter brought us to Shanghai — a city that feels like standing at the crossroads of time. On one side of the Huangpu River, century-old colonial buildings tell stories of Shanghai’s past as a global trading port. On the other, the futuristic skyline of Lujiazui reaches toward tomorrow. And right in between, our group of travelers discovered that China’s story is still being written.
- Walking along the Bund at dusk, we looked across the river at the shimmering towers of Pudong. Our travelers were struck by the contrast — how a city could honor its history while embracing the future so boldly. One guest from the United States said, “It feels like standing between two worlds.”
- In the Old City, we wandered through Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden built more than 400 years ago. Rock formations, koi ponds, and winding pathways created a world of quiet beauty just steps away from the modern city. Our travelers paused to take photos, sketch the scenery, and simply sit in the stillness.
- At the nearby bazaar, the energy shifted completely. Our group navigated bustling alleys filled with handcrafts, silk, tea, and street food. Bargaining became a game, laughter filled the air, and every traveler found something special to bring home — not just as a souvenir, but as a memory.
For our farewell dinner, we gathered at a restaurant overlooking the river. We shared Shanghainese xiaolongbao, stir-fried dishes, and toasts to the friendships formed along the way. Looking around the table at faces from Malawi, Brazil, and the United States, I felt the full circle of what Stories of China was meant to create.
From the Great Wall to the Bund, from ancient warriors to futuristic skylines, from Peking duck to xiaolongbao — our journey covered thousands of years and thousands of miles. But the most meaningful distance we traveled was the one between cultures, perspectives, and hearts.

Building Bridges Through Travel
The Stories of China tour represents Tours4fun’s commitment to a new kind of travel — one that prioritizes meaningful connection over checklist tourism, and cultural understanding over surface-level sightseeing.
“This inaugural journey proved what we’ve always believed,” said Tingting Guo. “When you bring people together with curiosity and openness, the stories they create become more powerful than any landmark they visit. Our travelers arrived as strangers from three continents. They left as friends who share a deeper understanding of China — and of each other.”
As CEO Allen Wang noted, “Tours4fun has always been about connecting diverse communities with meaningful travel experiences. Stories of China takes that mission to a new level — it’s not just about showing travelers a destination, it’s about helping them understand a culture, a history, and a way of life.”
Tours4fun plans to continue the Stories of China series with additional itineraries, including journeys to Guilin, Hangzhou, and the water towns of Jiangnan. Each chapter will be led by experienced tour leaders who bring personal insight and cultural fluency to every stop.
