Question 1

Which district along the Yulong River is best for bamboo rafting without crowds?

Accepted Answer

For a quieter experience, start your bamboo raft at Jiuxian Village instead of the crowded Yulong Bridge dock. This upper section offers serene views of karst peaks and rice paddies with fewer motorized boats. We recommend visiting early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak tour groups. Pre-book permits online to secure your spot during holidays.

Question 2

Can I swim in the Yulong River during the summer months?

Accepted Answer

Swimming is strictly prohibited in the Yulong River year-round to protect water quality and ensure safety due to sudden depth changes and underwater rocks. Local authorities enforce fines for violators. Instead, enjoy wading in designated shallow areas near villages like Chaolong or take a guided kayak tour through approved scenic zones for safe water interaction.

Question 3

What is the best time to visit Yulong River to avoid the rainy season?

Accepted Answer

Visit between October and April to avoid Guilin's heavy rainy season, which peaks from May to August. During these wet months, rafts may cancel due to high water levels and strong currents. Spring offers blooming flowers while autumn provides clear skies and golden harvest fields. Always check local weather forecasts three days before your trip for real-time updates.

Question 4

Do I need a special pass to access the Yulong River scenic area?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all visitors must purchase an entry ticket at the Yulong River Scenic Area gate or via official WeChat mini-programs. The ticket includes access to walking paths and photo spots but does not cover bamboo raft rides, which require separate pricing based on route length. Carry your passport for ID verification as foreign tourists may face additional checks at checkpoints.
