Dating back to 1808, the stone lighthouse at Gibraltar Point on the Toronto Islands is the oldest beacon in the Great Lakes. The 82-foot Gibraltar Point Lighthouse is said to be haunted by the spirit of J.P. Radan Muller who was murdered on Jan. 2, 1815 by two of his soldier friends who were later acquitted of the crime. People having reported hearing wails and seeing his ghost at the site. The now-closed lighthouse ran on oil until 1915 when electricity was installed.
