Question 1

What is the best way to get to Caversham Wildlife Park from Perth Airport?

Accepted Answer

Take the Airport Line train to Perth Station, then transfer to the Joondalup Line to Bassendean Station. From there, board the 340 bus towards Whiteman Park and alight at the Caversham stop. The entire journey takes about 50 minutes. Alternatively, a 25-minute taxi ride from the airport offers direct access if you are carrying heavy luggage or traveling with young children.

Question 2

Can I feed the animals at Caversham Wildlife Park and what food is allowed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, feeding is a key experience here, but you must use only food purchased on-site to ensure animal safety. You can buy specialized pellets to hand-feed friendly kangaroos and wallabies in the open grounds. Koala encounters and sheep shearing demonstrations are also available for small additional fees. Do not bring outside food like fruits or bread, as these are strictly prohibited to prevent harm to the wildlife.

Question 3

Is Caversham Wildlife Park open during the Western Australian winter rainy season?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the park remains open year-round, including during the wet winter months from June to August. Many animal enclosures are covered or indoors, allowing you to see koalas, wombats, and reptiles even when it rains. Wear waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes as the outdoor kangaroo areas can get muddy. Check the official website before visiting for any temporary closures due to severe weather warnings or flooding in Whiteman Park.

Question 4

Does the Whiteman Park entry fee include admission to Caversham Wildlife Park?

Accepted Answer

No, entry to Whiteman Park is free, but Caversham Wildlife Park charges a separate admission fee at its gate. You cannot access the wildlife exhibits without a valid ticket. However, purchasing a combo pass that includes the park entry and a ride on the historic tramway within Whiteman Park offers better value. Concession rates apply for seniors and children, while family passes provide significant savings for groups of four.
