This park opened in 2004 aims to be "Detroit's Gathering Place" and contains green space, fountains, monuments, stages, a seasonal ice-skating rink and a French bistro. The site now surrounded by botanical gardens was originally a military training ground in 1788 and is an eponym of a Marietta, Ohio compound. There's always something going on at Campus Martius Park whether it be festivals, concerts, competitions or events.
