We had a tour package with Edison for a four day weekend to Taipei.

We had not been to Taiwan before and had no expectations but just wanted to explore someplace new. The tour was all day and started with a pick at our hotel and visits to Yehilu, Jiufen and Pingxi. It was a perfect introduction to Taipei allowing us to see three of the most popular tourist spots in Taipei in the comfort of a climate controlled van with large windows and a very friendly tour guide Chiara and bus driver Ms. Sun. Chiara expertly led our group of 12 strangers through the sites and kept us on time while allowing us to see the highlights of each location and take plenty of photos. She recommended a fabulous restaurant overlooking the the East China Sea in Jiufen and gave great tips on shopping places and restaurants in Taipei near our hotel. Though we enjoyed the entire tour the highlight was Pingxi where we wrote our wishes on a lantern and sent the biodegradable structure up in the atmosphere with hundreds of other hopes and dreams! Finally, we want to recognize the great deriving by Ms. Sun. She drove a manual transmission 20 person bus up mountainous roads and expertly navigated the tourist crowded roadways without stalling once on the hills at red lights. It was definitely convenient to be dropped up and picked up near the entrance to each of the places. Over all we enjoyed the tour and would recommend to any friend or family member visiting Taipei. It was a great value and we wouldn’t have seen half of these amazing sites on our own!

I did the Pinglin Tea Tour and our guide was very nice and helpful. We went to have tea in a cute tea house and went to the Pinglin Tea Museum, where we learned how tea was being made.

Jinshan Old Street was a sensory delight with its bustling market stalls and tantalizing street food. It was the perfect place to immerse ourselves in Taiwan's local culture.
