Question 1

What is the best time of year to visit Taipei?

Accepted Answer

Visit Taipei between October and November to avoid peak rains and crowds. The typhoon season typically ends by September, and summer monsoon rains taper off by then. These months offer mild temperatures, clear skies, and fewer tourists compared to the busy winter holiday period.

Question 2

How do I get from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to downtown Taipei quickly and affordably?

Accepted Answer

Take the Taoyuan Airport MRT, which runs express trains from both terminals to Taipei Main Station in 35–50 minutes. A one-way ticket costs around TWD 160. It’s faster and more reliable than taxis during rush hour and connects directly to the city’s metro and train networks.

Question 3

Is the Taipei Pass worth it for tourists using public transportation and visiting major attractions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Taipei Pass is ideal for short stays. It offers unlimited rides on the MRT, buses, and the Maokong Gondola. If you plan to visit attractions like Beitou Hot Springs, Yangmingshan, or the Elephant Mountain trail, the pass pays for itself in 2–3 days of travel.

Question 4

Are night markets in Taipei open year-round, and which ones are least affected by rain?

Accepted Answer

Major night markets like Shilin, Raohe, and Ningxia operate year-round. Shilin has indoor and covered sections, making it more rain-resistant. During wet weather, opt for Raohe Street, which is fully covered. Always carry a compact umbrella, as sudden showers can occur, especially from May to September.
