Itinerary

Visit Cerro Tronador, the highest mountain in the Andean Lake District, on this full-day trip from Bariloche. You will travel to Nahuel Huapi National Park on a stunning scenic route across the Manso River. Along the way we'll stop in the town of Pampa Linda, take a brief hike with an informative guide to Ventisquero Negro glacier and hear the booming sound of calving ice chunks. After picking you up in the hotels in Bariloche, we will head towards Tronador Hill and cross part of the shore of Lake Guttierrez and Lake Mascardi to explore the right side of the lakes. To get to Cerro Tronador, we will have to cross a bridge over Manso River and continue down to Pampa Linda. There we will have a break and have lunch. Then, after relaxing and enjoying the landscapes, you will continue down the road, through a forest of beech and coihues, from where you can see the Manso Glacier, aka the Black Glacier. A little further on, the journey will end at the foot of the hill, where you will see the three peaks that characterize the National Park: Argentina, 3410 m, International, 3554 m. and Chile, 3474 m. You also will have the option to go to Larches Waterfall, by following the main road and crossing the bridge over the Rio Manso again. Then, you will go around Lake Gnats and Manso River to reach Lake Hess. After crossing the Rock River, the road will end and you will have to go on foot for 300 m. to reach a lookout over the stunning waterfall. After your nice journey, you will be taken back to your hotel.
