Discovering Tours4fun Through Social Media
Yumin first learned about Tours4fun not through an advertisement, but through social media.
"I saw the content being shared — it looked very professional, very polished, and high-end," she recalled. "I kept clicking to look. Then I saw posts about East Coast school visit tours, and I asked about it. They said, 'You can customize it.'"
That was the turning point. For a family needing campus visits to specific universities, five-star hotels, and a dedicated vehicle, a standard group tour simply wouldn't work. Customization was the only option.
A Seamless East Coast Journey
The trip began with a flight from Los Angeles to New York, where a Tours4fun representative met them at the airport. From there, the itinerary was tailored entirely to their needs — visiting universities including Brown University and schools in Rhode Island, while also incorporating sightseeing and relaxation.
"The custom itinerary was basically completed exactly as we expected," Yumin said. "It balanced school visits and sightseeing together perfectly."
She credited the collaboration between Tours4fun's route designers and local guides for making it work. "When the guide takes responsibility for the client seriously, they can perfectly combine the freedom of independent travel with a well-organized schedule. I think that's the biggest advantage of a private car service."
VIP-Level Service That Surprised Her
The difference between a custom tour and a regular group tour was immediately apparent, according to Yumin.
"The service quality is completely different. The guides for private car services have a different caliber — the professionalism, the service you receive, the feeling is different," she said. "Overall, I'd say the guide quality was quite high. Very professional. It felt a bit VIP."
The guide was thorough and persistent about making sure they didn't miss anything worth seeing. "We weren't really in the mood to explore, but the guide insisted — 'Since you're here, take a look.' And when we went, we were pleasantly surprised."
At one scenic stop — a charming location that turned out to be a popular photo spot — Yumin and her daughters ended up lingering for a long time, enjoying coffee at a nearby Starbucks while the driver waited patiently outside.
"That day really gave me a big pleasant surprise. The guide was very responsible. Everyone who went said it was great."
A Shift in How Chinese Travelers Think About Travel
Reflecting on how travel preferences have evolved over the past 20 years among Chinese-American and mainland Chinese travelers, Yumin observed a significant shift.
"More people now are willing to save on food and accommodation, but they'll spend generously on something meaningful — a special experience, a concert, or their daughter's speech performance. The cost of that one thing can far exceed what they spend on food and hotels," she said.
"I think this reflects how Chinese travelers are seeking more spiritual and emotional enrichment from their trips. That's a huge shift, and we've felt it ourselves."
Tours4fun Is the Most Professional
Yumin's confidence in Tours4fun runs deep. When asked about future travel plans, she mentioned wanting to take her daughters to Canada.
"For custom tours in North America, Tours4fun is the most professional. We go directly to this channel," she said. "And you're all Chinese-speaking, so online communication is very convenient for us."
