The 853-foot high skyscraper designed by William Pereira & Associates is the tallest building in San Francisco and its facade is coated with crushed quartz. While Transamerica does have offices occupying the building, its headquarters were moved in 1989. The only portion of the Transamerica Pyramid open to the public is its Plaza Level Visitor Center with a gift shop, live feed of the building's top and historical information. The 48-story structure is occupied by more than 50 firms.
