Situated on Lake Chapala, Ajijic is a small Jalisco town that was originally home to Native American settlers. Due to its proximity to Guadalajara, the town is popular among visitors as well as home to many retired Americans and Canadians who wish to relax away from the city. Prior to WWII, American author Dane Chandos lived here and wrote two novels about the area called "Village in the Sun" and "House in the Sun."
