Tips for the guide and the driver: The tipping is not mandatory however the guides and drivers, as in many other countries, will usually expect a tip. Those customers wishing to tip often ask us what they should give. Our suggestion would be:
* 2 people in a group USD$15.00/day/guest
* 3-5 people in a group: USD$8.00-10.00/day/guest
* 6-9 people in a group: USD$6.00-7.00/day/guest
* ≥10 people in a group: USD$5.00/day/guest
* The driver would be half the amount, and a separate offer to each is best. Of course, only tip if the service has truly satisfied you. Hotel bellboys require a tip of about USD$1.50 per bag. It is not required to tip in restaurants.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION: All clients must be in possession of a valid passport and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation is the sole responsibility of the client.
LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE: In accordance with regulations of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, the free baggage allowance within China is 20kg for economy class, 30kg for business class, and 40kg for first class, plus limited carry-on luggage. Excess baggage charges are the sole responsibility of the client. Regulations within China specify that all suitcases must have a locking device attached. Failure to follow this regulation may result in refusal by airport staff to load suitcases onto the aircraft.
INSURANCE: The tour packages include Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance up to a maximumof $30,000 per adult provided free of charge as part of our package. We still highly recommend that you purchase full coverage travel insurance from your country of origin.
About visiting Lama's dormitory: This visit cannot be arranged in March, October, or November due to the religious activities of the lamas during these times. It could also be suspended at other times if the lamas need to attend to some activities, such as being invited by villagers to host a ceremony.

Depending on your arrival time, your hotel room may not be available until the afternoon. Most hotels allow check-in between 1:00pm-3:00pm, however some charge a fee for early check-in. Please check at the hotel desk to see if you may store your luggage at the hotel if you wish to explore the city on your own before check-in.

I booked this tour for my parents (60+) and myself. The pace was moderate — my parents managed fine, though the altitude in Shangri-La affected them slightly. Our guide was attentive and adjusted the schedule accordingly. Pudacuo National Park was beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend for families wanting a private, hassle-free experience.

Yunnan is stunning, and this private tour showed us the best of it. Tiger Leaping Gorge is a must-see — the power of the river is unforgettable. Our guide also took us to a local market in Dali, which felt very authentic. Everything went smoothly. My only suggestion: bring snacks for the long drives, as lunch can be a bit late.

Excellent organization from start to finish. The airport pickups were seamless, and the hotels were all clean and comfortable (the one in Lijiang was especially nice). We loved learning to make Naxi pancakes and chatting with a lama at Songzanlin Lamasery. The only reason for 4 stars is that the drive from Lijiang to Shangri-La is long (though Tiger Leaping Gorge made it worthwhile).

This was the highlight of our China trip. Biking around Erhai Lake in Dali was peaceful and scenic. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is spectacular — make sure you take the cable car to the top. The private tour meant we could spend more time where we wanted. I wish we had one more day in Lijiang, but that’s just personal preference.

A truly amazing tour. Our guide, Leo, was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. The private car was comfortable, and the itinerary was well-paced. The Naigu Stone Forest was less crowded than the main one, a real hidden gem. The only tiny issue: the hotel in Shangri-La was a bit cold at night, but they provided extra blankets.
