Situated between the Rocky, Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, is the village of Valemount, which is also conveniently close to Jasper National Park. Valemount is also near Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. Valemount was incorporated into a village in 1962; the town experienced an increase of population and recreation in the 1970s and 1980s.
