Question 1

What is the best time of year to visit Tirana for pleasant weather and fewer crowds?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit Tirana is May to June and September to October. These months offer mild temperatures (18°C–26°C), minimal rainfall, and fewer tourists compared to peak summer. July and August are hotter (up to 35°C) and more crowded. Spring and early autumn also align with local festivals and outdoor dining in Blloku.

Question 2

How do I get from Tirana International Airport to the city center quickly and affordably?

Accepted Answer

Take the public minibus (Reni Shuttle) for 400 ALL (≈€3.50) per person – it departs every 30 minutes and reaches central Skanderbeg Square in 25 minutes. Taxis cost 2,500–3,000 ALL (€22–€27) and should use the meter. Pre-booked transfers offer fixed rates and meet-and-greet service.

Question 3

Is the Tirana Card worth it for tourists, and what benefits does it include?

Accepted Answer

The Tirana Card is ideal for short stays (1–3 days). It grants free public transport, discounted entry to museums like the National History Museum, 10–20% off at partner restaurants and hotels, and free access to the Dajti Express Cable Car. Available at tourist offices or online, it pays off with 2–3 attractions visited.

Question 4

What should I know about local customs and tipping in Tirana restaurants?

Accepted Answer

Service charge is usually included in restaurant bills. Tipping 5–10% is appreciated for good service but not mandatory. Albanians value polite greetings – a simple “Përshëndetje” (Hello) is welcomed. Dress is casual, but modest attire is advised when visiting religious sites like the Et’hem Bey Mosque.
