Referred to as "The Birthplace of French America," this is the location where Samuel de Champlain established the first permanent French settlement in North America in 1608. Place-Royale is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Notable sites are Place-Royale Interpretation Centre, Notre-Dame-des-Victories church, Cul-de-poule Wall, Louis XIV bust, Maison Fornel and Maison Chevalier.
