Situated at the end of the Champs-Elysees and along the River Seine, this popular tourist destination is the largest public square in Paris. Place de la Concorde was designed in 1755 by Ange-Jacques Gabriel and originally named Place Louis XV for France's king. During the French Revolution from 1789-99, it was renamed Place de la Revolution.
