Best Peru Tours & Trips

Peru is a living museum where ancient civilizations and modern gastronomy collide in spectacular fashion. Most travelers are drawn to the Andes, taking the scenic train or the classic trek to Machu Picchu, the mist-shrouded citadel that remains the icon of South America. The nearby city of Cusco displays a fascinating architecture of Spanish colonial churches built directly atop sturdy Incan stone foundations. Down on the coast, Lima has transformed into the world’s culinary capital, serving avant-garde ceviche overlooking the Pacific. From the mysterious Nazca Lines etched into the desert floor to the floating reed islands of Lake Titicaca, Peru offers a profound journey through the layers of human history.

Explore Rich Cultures And Ancient Mysteries On Extraordinary Peru Tours

Peru is an intriguing country known for its rich and diverse landscapes, and on Peru tours you can experience them all! Many people think that because there is so much travelling involved, the cost of these tours must be expensive. Not true – you can take advantage of many Peru travel deals with special offers that include group discounts or reward points towards your next exciting destination.

Many Peru vacation packages cut the cost by bundling, accommodation, meals, admission to attractions, domestic airfare, and ground transportation altogether for a convenient rate.

Many of these convenient tours begin in Peru’s capital city of Lima. You can join a sightseeing tour of Lima and spend a day or two exploring its wonders before venturing out into the rest of the country. In Lima some of the best attractions are:

• San Francisco Church with its impressive lattice dome. The catacombs below the church were once part of Lima’s cemeteries and contain over 70,000 bodies.

• Plaza de Armas where you can visit the Presidential Palace and see the changing of the guard at 12 noon daily.

• Plaza San Martin with its many examples of colonial architecture which are splendidly illuminated in the evening.

Peru tours from Lima take in you in all directions to experience all this marvelous country has to offer. Here is a sample of what you can do on a Peru multi-day tour package from Lima.

• The Peruvian Amazon – Head out into the untamed Peruvian Amazon. Travel by boat and canoe with bungalow lodgings provided on the river’s edge and in the jungle. Wooden walkways take you into the heart of the rain forest to see huge centuries-old trees, caiman, turtles and many beautiful exotic birds.

• Lake Titicaca – Located on the Peru-Bolivia border, Lake Titicaca is the South American continent’s largest lake. Its shores are home to many indigenous people whose cultures you can explore against the backdrop of the lake’s azure waters. The islands of Lake Titicaca have many archaeological ruins and several villages that are still steeped in the Inca culture.

• Machu Picchu – Called “the Lost City of the Incas” Machu Picchu is a wonderfully preserved symbol of the great Inca civilization. On Machu Picchu tours you can explore the ruins’ palaces, baths, temples and storage rooms. For many, the tour of the Temple of the Sun, which is built atop a pure granite rock and marks the highest altitude within the Lost City, is truly the high point of their visit.

A popular starting point for many Peru tours Cusco is just 80 km from Machu Picchu. Cusco to Machu Picchu trips get you there in comfort and style. You spend the day exploring the ruins and learning about them from your friendly and knowledgeable local Peru travel guide.

Set out from Lima or Cusco on a multi-day Inca Trail hiking adventure. It’s the perfect way to reach Machu Picchu! Along the way you get to view many other Inca ruins and breathtakingly beautiful scenery.

Once you are in Peru, making it to several of the other South American countries is super easy. Consider booking a multiday tour package that includes stops in Peru and

• Bolivia – See the gorgeous salt fields of the Uyuni Salt Flat on your Peru Bolivia tour.

• Chile – Hike up to the top of San Cristobal to the Statue of the Virgin and join her in enjoying the most spectacular view of Santiago.

• Brazil – Explore Rio de Janeiro’s colonial buildings and gaze upon the towering Christ the Redeemer at the top of Corcovado.

Winter 2026/2027
Winter in Peru blends a bit of paradox depending on region: in the coast and jungle it is warm-summer-like, while in the highlands it heralds rainy conditions. On the Andean altiplano and around Cusco & Machu Picchu the rainy season peaks: December through February bring frequent showers, muddy trails, cloud-cover and lower visibility. Trekking conditions can be tougher, and the famous Inca Trail is closed in February. But for travellers who don’t mind moisture, the highlands in full green are spectacular. On Peru’s Pacific coast - Lima, Paracas, northern beaches - this is summer proper: warm sunshine, sea-temperatures high, beach culture vibrant. Deep in the Amazon the rains swell rivers, opening remote lodges and boat-access to inner rainforest. While selections for high-altitude treks narrow, winter offers sunlit beaches, jungle immersion and rich cultural festivals like Carnival in February - a great alternative vibe to the high-altitude dryness.

Spring 2026
As autumn gives way to spring in the Southern Hemisphere, Peru’s landscapes shift in subtle yet dramatic ways. Along the Andean highlands-region, around Cusco and Machu Picchu, March still carries the tail-end of the rainy season, with lingering showers and mist, but by April and May skies often clear and temperatures during the day climb toward 18-20 °C (64-68 °F) while nights remain chilly. On the coast - in places like Lima or Máncora - the dry season gives way to warmer days, ideal for beach outings. The Inca Trail sees fewer visitors, the terraced fields around the Sacred Valley turn lush green, and wildflowers begin to bloom across the Andes. On the northern coast surfers catch early summer swells, while in the Amazon basin water levels remain high from recent rains, making wildlife-viewing especially rich.

Summer 2026
Summer in Peru means different things depending on the zone, but overall it brings peak activity and very solid conditions for exploring. In the Andes - Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu - this is the dry season: clear skies, daytime temperatures around 20-22 °C (68-72 °F), though nights can drop toward freezing at high-altitude. Trails are at their best, vistas are sharp and the festival of Inti Raymi in late June lights up the region. On the coast, Peru’s summer features warm, sunny days especially in the north (Máncora, Paracas) with temperatures reaching into the high 20 °C or more. This is the time for major hikes (Inca Trail, Salkantay), full-on beach relaxation and rich cultural immersion. The Amazon too sees slightly lower rainfall, improving river-journeys and jungle lodges.

Autumn 2026
Autumn brings a mellow transition in Peru: weather remains very appealing and visitor numbers begin to relax. In the Andes the dry season continues into early September, offering sunny days, crisp air and excellent hiking conditions. By October-November shower-risk gently increases, but the landscapes are lush from the year’s rains and colours intensify. On the coast, September and October are shoulder-seasons with mild weather and fewer tourists, and in the Amazon the forest begins shifting toward its wetter phase, creating beautiful scenes for wildlife viewing. This is the time when queues at Machu Picchu diminish, the Sacred Valley offers a more tranquil experience, vineyard visits in the Ica or Pisco regions are particularly rewarding, and beach holidays become more cost-effective.
