I loved the contrast between the ancient towns and the high-altitude landscapes. The Tibetan culture in Shangri-La was fascinating, and the hike through Tiger Leaping Gorge was a thrill. The 8-day tour was well-paced and allowed us to truly appreciate each destination.
Tibetan culture was fascinating to experience firsthand—the prayer flags, the butter tea, the intricate monastery architecture. The Songzanlin Monastery was beautiful, but the highlight was the Tibetan home visit where we were welcomed into a family's home and shared a simple meal together. These are the memories that last.
Lijiang's Old Town is romantic and full of charm, especially at dusk when the lanterns start to glow. The bike ride through the countryside near Dali was a breath of fresh air—we passed through fields of sunflowers and stopped to chat with farmers along the way. The 8-person group was lovely to travel with.
The bike ride around Erhai Lake was the highlight for me—so peaceful and scenic. The guide even arranged for us to stop at a local farm where we tried fresh fruit and learned about Bai agriculture. Lijiang Old Town at sunset was equally unforgettable.
