Best Nerja Tours & Trips

Nerja marks the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol. Only 31 miles from Malaga, Nerja has a very attractive coastline with caves less than two miles from the town’s center. The adventurous can tour them and see cave paintings that have been there for over 20,000 years. This picturesque town also has a mostly untouched old quarter, the 17th century Mudejar Church of El Salvador, several beaches and sparkling clear water for water sports. Don’t miss the Balcon de Europa, a cliff-side promenade with panoramic views of the Mediterranean.

Best Time to Visit Nerja

Autumn2026/2027
Autumn extends summer's warmth without the crowds, this is an ideal season to visit the city. Temperatures gradually retreat from a warm high of 28°C (82°F) in September to a mild 22°C (72°F) by late October. Crucially, the sea retains its summer warmth well into November, making it ideal for swimming and water sports without the summer crush. For outdoor activities, you can hike along the Río Chíllar Trail or explore the Nerja Caves. Rainfall begins to increase slightly in November, but early autumn is sunny and perfect for exploring the charming Old Town, visiting the local festivals like the Nerja Fair in October, and enjoying unhurried coastal walks.

Winter2026/2027
Winter is the low season, offering one of the most temperate climates on the Spanish mainland. Average daytime highs hover between 15°C and 18°C (59°F and 64°F), with night temperatures rarely dipping below 9°C (48°F). This is the wettest, yet still sunny, period of the year, with rain typically occurring in short bursts. The tranquil atmosphere is a huge draw for those seeking a quiet, warm escape, often dubbed "snowbirds." Travelers benefit from the lowest rates and can enjoy peaceful hikes in the nearby Sierra Almijara mountains or cultural visits to the Nerja Caves in comfort. It’s an ideal season for exploring the authentic Andalusian lifestyle.
