This was my first visit to this part of Canada, and the route gave me a useful overview. I especially enjoyed the glacier scenery, and the Columbia Icefield also lived up to the photographs. The route covered a lot of distance, and we appreciated not having to manage parking or mountain roads. The trip gave us a good balance of headline sights and smaller moments on the road. Some optional choices required planning ahead, and I was glad we reviewed them before the trip. For us, the variety of places justified choosing a guided itinerary.

Our guide set realistic meeting times and kept the group moving without making the stops feel rushed. My father walks more slowly, and he appreciated knowing the meeting times in advance. It is a good fit for travelers who value an efficient itinerary and plenty of photo stops.

The winter lakes and mountains of Banff are absolutely worth the visit. Rachel advised us to bring slip‑on ice grips, which made walking to the lake for photos much safer. Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake were both unique. Though busy, the photo spots were well spaced, so we still had a great experience.
