Question 1

What is the best area to stay in Marbella for first-time visitors?

Accepted Answer

Stay in Marbella Old Town or along the Golden Mile for an ideal balance of charm and convenience. Old Town offers cobbled streets, boutique hotels, and authentic tapas bars, while the Golden Mile provides luxury resorts, beach access, and direct routes to Puerto Banus. Both areas are safe, well-connected, and central for exploring.

Question 2

How do I get from Malaga Airport (AGP) to Marbella affordably?

Accepted Answer

Take the ALSA bus from Malaga Airport terminal to Marbella’s main bus station (Estación de Autobuses). Buses run hourly, cost ~€9 one-way, and take 50-70 minutes. Alternatively, pre-book a shared shuttle for slight savings over private taxis, which average €70-€90.

Question 3

Is Marbella worth visiting outside of summer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From April to June and September to October, Marbella offers warm weather (20–26°C), fewer crowds, lower prices, and vibrant outdoor life. Most restaurants, beaches, and attractions remain open. Winter (December–February) is mild (15-18°C), ideal for hiking and cultural visits, though some beach clubs close.

Question 4

Are there any local travel passes for buses and attractions in Marbella?

Accepted Answer

Marbella doesn’t have a citywide tourist pass, but the Malaga Province Travel Card covers ALSA buses to nearby towns and discounts at select Museo Picasso sites. For unlimited local bus travel, buy a Bonobus card (€2.20) and load credit. Many top attractions, like the Alameda Park and Bonsai Museum, are free.
