Question 1

Which airport is closest to Lungshan Temple and how do I get there?

Accepted Answer

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is the main gateway. Take the Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station, then transfer to the Banqiao Line on the Taipei Metro. Exit at Longshan Temple Station; the temple is directly across the street. The entire journey takes about fifty minutes and costs roughly one hundred fifty New Taiwan Dollars using an EasyCard.

Question 2

What are the best times to visit Lungshan Temple to avoid crowds?

Accepted Answer

Visit early between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM to observe morning prayers without tourist crowds. Avoid weekends and the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month when local devotees flock here. The temple is busiest during the Lunar New Year and Ghost Festival. Weekday afternoons offer a quieter experience for exploring the intricate stone carvings and architecture.

Question 3

Do I need cash to make offerings or buy incense at Lungshan Temple?

Accepted Answer

Yes, bring small denominations of New Taiwan Dollars. While entry is free, incense, candles, and fruit offerings require cash purchases from vendors nearby or inside the complex. Many smaller stalls do not accept credit cards or mobile payments. Prepare coins and bills under one hundred dollars for donations and to participate in traditional fortune-telling practices.

Question 4

Is there a dress code for visiting Lungshan Temple in Wanhua District?

Remove hats upon entering the main prayer halls. Shoes do not need to be removed generally, but maintain silence near worshippers.
