This Southern Pennsylvania city is the seat of Lancaster County - Pennsylvania Dutch Country and home to a large Amish population. Lancaster was founded in 1730 and originally called "Hickory Town." It was renamed after the English town of Lancaster and was the capital of Pennsylvania from 1799-1812. Lancaster was home to James Buchanan, Jr., the 15th president of the United States. Notable sites are the Central Market, Cork Factory Hotel, Fulton Opera House, Lancaster Arts Hotel, Wheatland, Rock Ford Plantation and Lancaster County Prison.
