This scenic lake that borders both the United States and Canada means "Lake of Shining Waters" in the Wyandot native language. Lake Ontario that is 53 miles wide and 93 miles long is the smallest and most eastern of the five Great Lakes of North America. It flows into the Atlantic Ocean by way of the St. Lawrence River and the Canadian province of Ontario is named after the glacial lake.
