Best La Boca Tours & Trips

Formerly the site of a small rebellion, the neighborhood now serves as a brightly colored entertainment hub for Buenos Aires. Founded by Italian settlers as a port, the streets bring a European flavor to the city. For the football fan, take in a match by the internationally famous Boca Juniors Sports Club. Traverse - or dance - through the Caminito Street Museum to partake in Tango performances, music, local art, and eye catching souvenirs. After working up a hunger dancing, make sure to partake in a slice at Bancho Pizzeria, home to traditional Italian pizza!

L
9-Day South America Samba Tour from Rio de Janeiro: Iguassu Falls and Buenos Aires

The samba show on day 4 was the highlight of my trip. The dancers wore colorful costumes and the drums were loud and exciting. The group had a table near the stage. My only suggestion is to add a stop at a churrascaria (Brazilian steakhouse) for dinner - the included meals were good but basic.

FAQs about La Boca Tours

Is La Boca safe for tourists to visit during the day?

Stick strictly to Caminito and the main tourist streets between 9 AM and 5 PM when police presence is high. Avoid wandering into residential blocks or visiting after dark, as crime rates rise significantly outside the core zone. Use official taxis or ride-share apps for arrival and departure rather than walking from distant subway stations.

Which airport is closest to La Boca and how do I get there?

Jorge Newbery Airpark (AEP) is the nearest airport, located just 15 minutes away by taxi. If arriving at Ezeiza International Airport (EZE), expect a 45-minute drive depending on traffic. Avoid public buses with luggage due to pickpocket risks. Pre-book a private transfer or use verified ride-share apps to ensure a direct and secure journey to your hotel.

When is the best time to visit La Boca to avoid rain and crowds?

Visit during the shoulder seasons of April to May or September to November for mild weather and fewer tourists. The summer months (December to February) bring intense heat and heavy crowds, while winter can be chilly and damp. Avoid January if possible, as many locals vacation then, leading to some shop closures despite the festive atmosphere.

Do I need special passes or tickets to walk around Caminito?

No entry tickets or local passes are required to walk the open-air museum of Caminito. However, expect to pay small fees for entering specific tango shows, museums like Quinquela Martín, or taking photos with costumed performers. Carry Argentine pesos in small denominations for these incidentals, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or foreign currency.
