Jasper National Park was formed in 1907 and named for trading post merchant Jasper Hawes. It is visited by nearly two million people per year. Points of interest are Columbia Icefield, Mount Edith Cavell, Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake, Pyramid Mountain, Athabasca Falls and the Jasper Tramway. Traveling by train from Vancouver to Banff was a truly special experience—it felt as if time had slowed down. Even days after the trip ended, my mind was still filled with the endless Rocky Mountains, rivers, and lakes stretching beyond the window. I was also pleasantly surprised to spot many adorable wild animals in Jasper National Park! Overall, it was a wonderful journey, and I’ll definitely come back to Canada again in the summer.
