The Hawaii state monument that is an extinct volcano crater is a landmark on Oahu and its Waikiki Beach. Diamond Head is more than 475 acres and was formed approximately 300,000 years ago. Its name is attributed to the fact that European explorers believed its calcite crystals were actually diamonds.
