Best Time to Visit Beitou Library

Spring 2026/2027
Spring in Beitou is a vibrant awakening, with temperatures rising from 16°C to 25°C (61°F to 77°F). This mild, breezy climate is the premier time to visit the "Breathing Forest Library," as the surrounding Beitou Park erupts in fresh greenery and early blossoms. The gentle spring sun filters through the library’s massive floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the warm wooden interiors without the glare of summer. It is the perfect season to find a seat on the second-floor balcony, where you can read while surrounded by the scent of spring rain and budding trees. The manageable weather makes the uphill walk from Xinbeitou MRT station a delightful part of the experience.

Summer 2026
Summer transforms the library into a lush, emerald sanctuary with temperatures typically ranging from 27°C to 35°C (81°F to 95°F). While the tropical heat and humidity are intense, this eco-friendly "Green Building" is designed for natural ventilation and thermal insulation, offering a cool, shaded retreat. This is the best time to appreciate the library’s sustainable features, such as the solar panels on the roof and the vertical wooden slats that block out the harshest summer rays. Visitors can enjoy the dramatic afternoon thundershowers from the safety of the indoor reading nooks, watching the rain nourish the surrounding "treehouse" environment through the large French windows.

Autumn 2026
Autumn is widely heralded as the golden era for travel, featuring crisp air and pleasant temperatures between 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F). As the summer humidity recedes, the library’s outdoor reading areas become the most sought-after spots in the building. The surrounding forest begins to show hints of autumn gold, providing a stunning, tranquil backdrop for photography and study. This stable weather is ideal for a "forest bathing" session, where you can transition from reading a book to taking a stroll in the park without breaking a sweat. The soft, low-angle light of autumn creates a warm, cinematic glow across the library's wooden facade and book-filled halls.

Winter 2026/2027
Winter in Beitou is a quiet, atmospheric season where temperatures typically fluctuate between 12°C to 19°C (54°F to 66°F). While the air can be damp and chilly, the library’s wood-heavy architecture provides a sense of cozy, organic warmth. This is the peak season for a combined trip: spend a quiet morning reading in the library, then head next door to the hot springs to soak in the therapeutic waters. The misty winter weather adds a poetic layer to the park, making the library look like a glowing lantern in the fog. After a day of literary and physical relaxation, travelers can find warmth in a nearby eatery with a steaming bowl of traditional ramen or hot ginger tea.

Beitou and Yangmingshan Day Tour from Taipei: Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Geothermal Valley and Yangmingshan Flower Clock

all the landscapes were amazing.

Chiara explained many interesting facts along the way and was always ready to answer any questions we had. We were also able to see Yangmingshan in fuller view first as she rearranged our itinerary according to the weather which ended with a hot spring foot bath. Due to some of our limited understanding of mandarin Chiara patiently translated menu items for the group. Just hoped that we had a bit more time at each location to take pictures or have a slower pace because there is a lot of walking/hiking downhill on this trail.

Really Good

Jinshan Old Street was a sensory delight with its bustling market stalls and tantalizing street food. It was the perfect place to immerse ourselves in Taiwan's local culture.
