How do I get from Marseille Provence Airport to Arles using public transport?

Accepted Answer

Take the shuttle bus or taxi to Vitrolles-Caronte train station, then board a TER train to Arles (journey time: ~45 minutes). Trains run hourly, and schedules align with major flight arrivals. Purchase tickets at the station or via SNCF Connect app. Allow 1.5 hours total travel time from airport to Arles center.

Question 3

Is the Arles City Pass worth it for a one-day visit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Arles City Pass covers entry to major sites like the Roman Arena, Amphitheatre, and Ancient Theatre, plus free public transport and guided tours. At €25 for 24 hours, it pays for itself with two or three attractions. Buy online or at the tourist office upon arrival to maximize time and skip ticket lines.

Question 4

Are Arles’ Roman ruins accessible during the summer thunderstorm season?

Accepted Answer

Arles has a Mediterranean climate with rare summer thunderstorms, typically brief if they occur. The Roman Arena and other ancient sites remain open during light rain. In case of severe weather, temporary closures may happen for safety, but most ruins are open-air and quickly accessible once conditions clear. Check onsite signage or city websites for real-time updates.
