Question 1

What is the safest area to stay in Acapulco for tourists?

Accepted Answer

The Costa Dorada and Diamante zones are the safest and most tourist-friendly areas in Acapulco, featuring gated resorts, private security, and well-lit beaches. Avoid the traditional downtown (Zona Tradicional) and La Quebrada at night. Stick to reputable hotels and authorized transportation to minimize risk.

Question 2

When is the rainy season in Acapulco, and how does it affect beach activities?

Accepted Answer

Acapulco’s rainy season runs from June to October, with peak rainfall in September. While rain often comes in short, heavy afternoon bursts, it can disrupt boat tours and water sports. Carry a lightweight raincoat and plan outdoor activities for mornings, when skies are typically clearer.

Question 3

How do I get from Acapulco International Airport (ACA) to the Diamante district?

Accepted Answer

The Diamante district is 25 km from Acapulco International Airport (ACA). Use authorized airport taxis (costing ~600–800 MXN) or pre-booked shuttle services. Ride-hailing apps like Uber operate reliably here. Avoid unmarked taxis. The drive takes 30–40 minutes depending on traffic.

Question 4

Are there any local transport passes or cards for tourists in Acapulco?

Accepted Answer

Acapulco does not offer a dedicated tourist transport pass. Public minibuses (peseros) are inexpensive but lack English signage. For convenience and safety, use ride-hailing apps like Uber or DiDi, or rent a car from approved agencies at the airport or major hotels.
