Nicknamed the Polish Alps, the Tatra Mountains are the highest of the Carpathian Mountains and reach up to 8,711 feet. The range stretches 32.9 miles along the border of Poland and Slovakia. It is a popular destination for skiers and nature lovers, offering everything from snow sports to cave exploration and even paragliding. Visit the High Tatras for dramatic views of the lakes and peaks or see the diverse wildlife in the pine forests of the Western Tatras. Zakopane is the most popular resort town here, with access to both the High and Western parts of the range.
