The Connecticut city founded in 1638 by Puritans is where the prestigious Ivy League institution Yale University is located. New Haven is called "The Elm City" having the earliest public tree planting program. It offers many highly reviewed restaurants, beaches, theaters and historic districts. The U.S. National Historic Landmark District of New Haven Green is a 16-acre recreation park where the Puritans are believed to have settled.
